Experts Say Dating Sites Need to Pay Attention to Mobile Internet Users As Well
When most people think of internet daters, they think of people on PC’s. Although this still holds true for the most part, it does not have to be that way. In fact, many people are starting to go online via mobile phones. Thus, many experts say that these dating sites need to stop ignoring mobile phone users and come up with applications that allow them to do internet dating by way of phone.
Most agree that it’s only a matter of time before dating sites become available by way of applications on smart phones. However, the trick will be to create the same atmosphere on mobile phones as what people feel when they visit the site by way of PC.
The CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt, said in a recent keynote speech at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that the company has shifted its focus from desktops to mobile technology. He went on to say that their programmers are doing work on mobile technology first, and that it is a change. Mobile web is proceeding at eight times faster than the equivalent point 10 years ago for the desktop. He finished up by saying that half of the new internet connections are for mobile devices. From Google’s perspective, there are more Google searches on mobile things than there are on desktops.
In a very recent study on Mobile Internet by Morgan Stanley, they found that Mobile Internet is growing rapidly and will be bigger than desktop internet due to social adoption trends, social networking, 3G networks and new mobile device technology. Voice usage is declining at 2 percent per year, where data usage is growing very quickly.
